Who we are
We are a group of enthusiasts who love sighthounds. We have been helping informally since 2021. In 2024 we registered the Chartoterapia Association, and since January 2026 we have been running as the Chartoterapia Foundation.
We have helped more than 150 dogs— we find foster homes and forever homes, help with transport, support veterinary treatment and fundraisers, and build a supportive community of people caring for sighthounds.
Several times a year our sighthound community meets for wonderful group walks. We speak Polish, English and German.

Sighthounds — speed demons, angels at home, prisoners in pens
Why do sighthounds need help? Because in Poland they are still out of luck.
Hundreds of homeless sighthounds every year
Many people don't know that stray sighthounds exist in Poland. Yet every year hundreds of these remarkable dogs wander the country. In Poland sighthounds are still kept as working dogs – confined to pens, treated as property, often used for poaching. If they are ineffective, sick or injured, they never make it home.
Hunting law and “illegal” sighthounds
Breeding and keeping sighthounds in Poland requires a permit. Hunting law treats them almost like a weapon – they reach dizzying speeds and can catch wild game on their own. Many people keep sighthounds illegally, which is why a lost sighthound is rarely searched for.
Remarkable, sensitive dogs
Sighthounds are truly remarkable dogs – their distinctive look and build make them sprinters and champions of speed. At the same time they love to rest and to be close to people. They are exceptionally sensitive, empathetic and gentle – aggression towards people is almost completely foreign to them.
What we do
We rescue
We take in sighthounds wandering around Poland – from the streets, from shelters and from irresponsible owners. Like Løpe, who roamed the villages of the Świętokrzyskie region for weeks in freezing temperatures well below zero.
We treat
Diagnostics, deworming, neutering, dental care, rehabilitation – we give our dogs full veterinary care. We also help sighthounds whose owners weren't prepared for the cost of serious treatment – we support and share fundraisers, like the one for Frost, who was diagnosed with a mast cell tumour.
We rehome
We look for responsible homes. Every adoption is a process: a questionnaire, a conversation, a meeting – and only then do we match a dog with a family. We do our best to bring the right people and dogs together. Want to adopt? Don't wait for a post or an ad. Fill in the questionnaire in advance and we'll get in touch when the right dog comes along.
